Betty was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on September 3, 1927, the daughter of O.E. “Pete” Greene and Rose Hays Greene. She moved to Miamisburg as a young child and graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1945. She later earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education from the University of Dayton. Betty taught at St. Anthony’s Catholic School, the Dayton Public Schools, and at several schools in Arizona. She was also a Montessori Certified teacher.
Betty was an only child. She was venturesome and had many interesting life experiences. Mom’s approach to many challenges taught us that flexibility and determination are extremely useful to make the best out of our life’s adventures. An enduring memory is of Betty reading to her children before bedtime.
She enjoyed writing, and won several regional poetry competitions. She sang in the Choir at the BRC and learned to play the dulcimer while a resident there.
Betty is survived by her children and their spouses: T. Michael (Sally) Roberts, Tristine (Randy Cunningham) Roberts, Renee Hankins, Denise (Brad) Bennett, and Suzanne (Bill) Rohane; grandchildren: Kwesi Hankins, Lisa (Phil) Derr, Gen (Josh) Brown, David (Rachel) Buchholz, Joe (Abby) Buchholz, Shannon Rohane, and Shane Rohane; great grandchildren: Nick, Abigail, and Ian Buchholz; and a dear friend from her teaching days in Arizona, Nancy Wright.
Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbye Jo Roberts, stepfather Roscoe Gephart, husbands Robert C. Roberts and Joesph Bozick.
The family is thankful for the excellent care Betty received during her time at the BRC.
