Bonnie Yvonne Applegate, 90, of Miamisburg, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026. She was born April 2, 1936, in Duck Hill, MS to the late Y.J. and Sallie Sykes. Bonnie worked numerous jobs including at Walgreen’s in Memphis, TN, in a shoe factory in Portsmouth, OH, and as a nurse’s aide at Washington Manor in Centerville, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William A. Applegate; a son, Chris A. Applegate; brothers, R.J. Sykes and Sam Sykes; and sister, Kathleen Phillips.
Bonnie is survived by her son, William G. Applegate of Miamisburg, OH; her sisters, Lucy McCullough of Duck Hill, MS, and Sarah Douglas of Grenada, MS; three grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, and Chris; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2026, at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg, OH. Donations in Bonnie’s memory can be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Services in care of Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home.
