He was born December 24, 1929 in Springfield the son of Elmer and Margaret (Shope) McGinnis. Carl was a graduate of Springfield High School and he served his country in the United States Army. He retired from International Harvester after 30 years of service and he was a volunteer firefighter for many years for the Village of Donnelsville. Carl enjoyed riding his bicycle and he loved helping other people. He never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.
Carl is survived by his grandchildren, Brooklyn McGinnis and Colt McGinnis; a great granddaughter; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean A. McGinnis; son, Carl D. McGinnis, Jr.; and 8 brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle. Services are entrusted to GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
