Constance (Connie) Marie Plisek
Born October 6, 1956, passed away September 27, 2026
A wonderful mother and grandmother, devoted children’s librarian, gifted seamstress, avid reader, and a woman with an incredible fighting spirit, Connie spent her life caring for others, bringing joy to children, and finding ways to make the people around her happy.
Throughout her career as a children’s librarian, she served the communities of Miamisburg and Dayton, working in the downtown library before retiring from the Dayton library system. She had a special gift for connecting with children and families and creating experiences they would remember. Among those was her legendary Baby Prom.
She was a fighter in every sense of the word. She faced challenges and accomplished things that most people could hardly imagine one parent taking on alone. Her strength, determination, and devotion to her children and grandchildren were defining parts of who she was.
She was also an incredible seamstress who could sew just about anything. Some of the most treasured memories are not simply of the beautiful things she made, but of the time spent sewing blankets with each of her children—being silly, laughing, having fun, and enjoying being together. She made each of her grandchildren a baby blanket that they will treasure always.
Her humor, creativity, strength, and love will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Walling (Conrad); her father, Samuel H. Walling; and her sister, Samantha Jane Walling.
She leaves behind her son, Jesse; daughter Katie Alexander (Adam) and their three children, Jordyn, Jenna, and Kara; and her beloved kitty, Stitch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her home on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 3:00–7:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend may contact the family for the address should they need it.
In honor of her lifelong love of books and her dedication to children and literacy, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers or other donations, contributions be made to a local book or literacy charity of your choice.
Her life was filled with books, fabric, laughter, determination, and, above all, love. The things she created, the children she encouraged, and the family she loved will forever carry pieces in their hearts.
