I had the honor of knowing Dan during his time at the MSHP Crime Lab and always enjoyed being around Dan and his dry sense of humor.  He was very good at what he did and his talent will be missed by the field.

Bibby family:  I had the pleasure of taking his Forensic Science course in 2002 at Sinclair -- just for personal interest.  I LOVED the class!  He was a wonderful instructor with an awesome personality -- one of the best.  He made the class so enjoyable that none of us wanted to leave.  Thank you so much for sharing him with so many people. To the Bibby family, I worked many years as a Crime Scene Tech at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.  One case required thawing, and collecting over 100 pieces of evidence off a frozen carpet from a homicide.  Dan came out to our office and after seeing my efforts of 30 hours work, he commented he was impressed.  That praise from him, I was always proud of because I know how he loved attention to detail.

Dan Bibby was a brilliant colleague.  He was always willing to share his knowledge, experience and techniques with other criminal justice professionals.  He was also a kind and thoughtful man, as well as a great jokester.  It is too bad that the world, and especially our criminal justice community, will have to go on without him. sorry for your loss i know how much you'll miss him

I worked with Dan at the Crime Lab and I was very saddened to hear the news. Dan spoke of his family with such pride and joy. A favorite memory of mine was lunchtime, we would sit down and he opened his lunch to find a note that Karen had written that morning. He would read it, his eyes would light up and a huge smile would come across his face, he ate his lunch and went back to work. The note showed me there was no stronger bond between two people than the one that Dan and Karen shared.  I don't believe he went back to "work" though, for what he did wasn't work to him, he loved what he did.  You were never a co-worker to him, you were a friend and for that I thank him.

When I was a child he was my playmate and teacher.  I looked up to him when I was little and continue today.  Being 2 years older than me, I was challenged to be like him.  If he could climb that tree--so could I, and I did.  I treasured his hand-me-down flannel lined blue jeans and flannel shirts.  I could be even more like him when dressed in his clothes.  He took me to the store around the corner where the family lived upstairs and we enjoyed a soft drink and candy. I felt so grown up.  He taught me the longest word in the dictionary "antidisestablishmentarianism" and how to spell it.  I don't know if it is even there, but I'll never forget it.  I chuckled to read about "Bibbyisms" referred to by his coworkers.  I was exposed to these from as early as I would listen to his jokes and he always presented these with a straight face but that impish twinkle in his eyes.  He taught by example in his patient subtle style.  I know the person I am today is in good part due to the person my special uncle was.  I never heard a cross word from him nor gossip about others.  He was truly a special man whom I will miss terribly.  No more patriotic emails, no more beautiful faith emails.  I cried when I tried his cell phone number the day after he died because hearing his voice reminded me I would hear it no more.  I pray you look down on me Uncle Dan and continue to touch my life to keep me following in your glorious shadow of good until the day the Lord calls me to heaven where I will see you again.

Aunt Karen, Cousins Sandy, Tom and Suzi and your families--my prayers the Lord helps you through this difficult, sad time.

What a uplifting, positive man.  I will always remember his response whenever I asked him, "How are you today Dan?"...his response was simply "SAVED"...with a big smile.  No question that he is with Jesus today.  Bless you all - hold on to the memories and I pray that God's grace & peace will comfort you as you say "goodbye"...for now.

Bibby family:
I had the pleasure of working with your husband/father at the Crime Lab for many years. Even more than a forensic scientist, he was a teacher; whether he was educating a jury, a classroom of police officers or a troop of Scouts. I think that was his true calling. And not just teaching people about forensic science; more importantly, teaching by example on how to be a good human being. But that is not the thing that comes to mind first when I think of Dan...it was his horribly corny jokes and puns! Oh, how they made me groan! And he would slip a bad joke in whenever he got the chance - no one was safe. Ha ha! Around the Lab, we refer to them as Dan Bibby jokes or Bibby-isms. I think that is what I will miss the most.

day or every other day wishing and hoping that he would one day get
up and joke and play around with everyone. like he always did. but he
knew it was his time, he knew the angels were calling for him. a few
friendly faces to greet him through the heavenly gates. so he lifted high and floated high with no pain, God set him free of his pain.

It Was Just Too Hard To Believe
 
I never thought, I would see the day. When you wouldn't be there,to show me the way.

You taught me the difference, between right and wrong. You always had a way, but that was before you were gone.
You'd come in my room to play, To tease and to tickle, Oh.. you always made me smile.

I don't know how you did it, I'm not sure I really care. But I know that you are with me,

I know that you are there. I cry and I cry, for what seems like forever. But 
I know someday will come,
And we will be together.

One day you were there, the next you had to leave. I didn't know what to do,
I didn't know what to believe.
In front of my friends, I tried not to cry.

But I kept wondering why.
Why this and why that, why you had to go. I tried my hardest, not to let my feelings show.

I couldn't just say, my brother had died. I knew nothing would change, so I kept it all inside.

Uncle Danny Thank you for being part of my life...You were a wonderful, kind, gentle man who I will miss greatly.  Thank you for being you.  I will pray for your family that their loss will be lessened by the knowledge of the angel you are now.
