Darleen J. Borger-Payne

Darleen J. Borger-Payne, age 86, of Miamisburg, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. Darleen was born on February 15, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Samuel and June (Shade) Borger. She graduated from Miamisburg High School, Class of 1958. Darleen retired from the Mound Lab / EG&G. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the American Legion Post #165 Women’s Auxiliary.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, James “Jim” Payne; dear aunt and uncle, Margaret and Bud Pope; an infant sister, June Marie Borger; and her beloved dogs, Moe, After, and Over.

Darleen is survived by several cousins and numerous devoted friends.

Some of her favorite things were trips with Jim, snazzy cars, Dominic’s, movies, music and concerts, funny t-shirts, and spending time with her friends. In her later years, she enjoyed watching sports on TV.

A Celebration of Darleen's Life will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 11, 2026, at St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Miamisburg with Rev. Michael G. Hout officiating. Her final resting place will be in Hillgrove Cemetery.

Thank you to Pastor Mike and her church family for the visits, prayers, cards, Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas caroling. Thank you to Dr. Robert J. Sawyer and staff for the many years of TLC he gave to Darleen and Jim. Thank you to the kind and helpful staff of Stoney Ridge Senior Living for taking good care of Darleen these past 3 years. Thank you to the compassionate staff at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, especially Jean, for ensuring Darleen’s final days were peaceful.
