He was born June 20, 1960 to Marvin and Frances (Morrison) Cole of Monroe. David was a 1978 graduate of Lemon Monroe High School. He entered the United State Army in 1978 at the age of 17 and served his country for 6 years. David worked at Armco/AK Steel in Middletown from 1988 until his retirement in 2017. His passions were veteran affairs, anything sports, and socializing with his friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Middletown Moose.
David is survived by his wife Tami (Gregory-Butcher) Cole whom he married in 2000; children, Cory (Michelle) Butcher of Greenville and Caitlin Butcher of Miamisburg; his mother, Frances Cole of Monroe; sister, Robin Cole of Monroe; brothers, Bob (Pam) Shearer of Middletown and Doug (Betsy) Cole of Dayton; mother-in-law, Kay Gregory and brother-in-law, Tony (Julie) Gregory both of Mt. Gilead; Alice Gregory of Brecksville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Cole; brother, Scott Cole; father-in-law, Gene Gregory; brother-in-law, Tim Gregory; and numerous extended family.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Woodside Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow in the community room.
