She was born August 23, 1920 in Franklin, Ohio, the daughter of Milton and Susan (Jordan) Hunt.
Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Miamisburg High School. She was an active member of Parkview United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, delivered care packages to the elderly, and faithfully studied the Scriptures. Dorothy spent many years volunteering at Sycamore Hospital and Kingston of Miamisburg. She loved long drives, especially if it involved stopping for ice cream, her cell phone was never far from her side, and she insisted that the secret to a long life was a daily diet of coffee, ice cream, and chocolate. Dorothy was a very dedicated mother who knew what it was to sacrifice for her children. She truly enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and delighted in triple jumping them in checkers. Although she lost her short term memory, she never forgot the ones she loved.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Linda) Hockett, Susan (Rick) Petersen, Steve (Pam) Hockett, Chuck (Jill) Hockett, and Dave (Kathy) Hockett; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; faithful friend, Marilyn Higenbothan; caregiver, Kim Burks; and well as her loving companion, her dog, Nigel.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Fred Hockett; and her siblings, Alberta McGohan, Bob Hunt, Ed Hunt, Gladys Christianson, and Bill Hunt.
