He was born on September 29, 1951, in Dayton, the son of Ralph E. and Eda (Vacchiano) Kline. Doug worked for many years for International Paper and retired from Neff Folding Box Company. He was a longtime member of St. Henry Catholic Church, where he often served as an usher. Doug had many hobbies, including cooking, golfing, fishing, boating, and technology. Most important to Doug was spending time with his family, his joy of helping others, and tinkering in his garage. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor (Is that true?). He valiantly fought and won his battle against cancer. Doug’s fight included several trials that became protocol in early treatment of multiple myeloma.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bridget (McGrath) Kline; children, Kathryn (Gregg) Klein and their children, Dominic (Lexy), Emily (great granddaughter, Kai), Nate (Bella), Kristen (Tim) Barnett and their children, Clare, Brendan, Delaney, and Ainsley; sister-in-law, Sharon Kline; brother-in-law, Patrick (Deb) McGrath, John (Deanna) McGrath; sister-in-law, Mary (Tom) McGrath Larson; several nieces and nephews; a host of lifelong friends; as well as his beloved dog, Bailey.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dave Kline; in-laws, Tom and Dorothy McGrath.
