Astor, Elaine Ann, age 77, a lifelong resident of Miamisburg, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 after a 15 year battle with breast cancer. She was born November 14, 1946 to the late Clyde and Christine Brown. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Doug Astor; her 3 children: sons, Doug (Christie) Astor of Miamisburg, Brian (Angela) Astor of Troy, and daughter, Kelli Brooks of Miamisburg; 3 grandsons, Tucker and Holden Brooks, and Ryan Astor; 6 granddaughters, Erica (Ben) Ernst, Miranda Martin (Sean), Kamryn Brooks, Lauren, Sydney and Hayley Astor; 4 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Emery, Myah, and Evelyn; brother, Kenny (Connie) Brown; nephews, Aaron (Jami) Brown, Brad (Courtney) Pompos, Aaron (Amanda) Mitchell, and Kevin Brown; her dog, Teddy; and several friends, including The Card Club Ladies, Secret Sisters, and Elaine’s Aerobics Ladies.
Elaine was a 1964 graduate of Miamisburg High School and attended Ohio University. She worked at Kettering Hospital, Dayton Gastroenterology, and Joann Fabric. She danced at the Vicki Jo Dance Studio from high school until just a few years ago. She was an aerobics instructor from the 1980’s until the Fall of 2023. She was a lifelong member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church.
Elaine loved to decorate and entertain for the holidays. She created a home where all who entered felt welcome. She was extremely creative and talented. She was always working on some sort of homemade project that included sewing, crocheting, or cross stitching. If she loved you, then you most likely have a blanket from Elaine. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, Dancing With The Stars, Hallmark movies, and her beloved Cincinnati Reds. Some of her favorite things include fireworks, bubbles, Graeter’s Ice Cream, and Chocolate Frosty Koolers from the Miamisburg Dairy Queen.
She had a fascination with weather and space, so much so, that we joked she was a meteorologist in a past life. The TV was always on the weather channel. She would have loved the eclipse, but was there in spirit watching by her husband’s side. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren, and loved attending any of their events. She was the matriarch and cornerstone of her family.
Elaine was beautiful, classy, selfless, stubborn, kind, and loving. She was reserved, yet outspoken. Always helping others, she gave advice whether wanted or not, and the majority of the time she was right. She was the definition of strength. She never complained or let her illness slow her down. She fought courageously until her last breath.
Although she is irreplaceable, Elaine will live on in the hearts of the many who love her. She is smiling down on us all, as she forever dances in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church in Elaine’s memory.
