
H. Douglas Butcher, age 87, passed away at home in the early hours of June 17, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on May 30, 1939, in Millersburg, Kentucky, Doug later made a life rooted in Miamisburg, Ohio, marked by steady devotion to his family.
Doug was a 1957 graduate of Miamisburg High School and continued his education as a graduate of Sinclair Community College and the American Institute of Banking. His commitment to learning and to doing things well carried into a distinguished career, retiring as vice president of Key Bank. In retirement, he devoted his time to Crossroad Orchard, a place where he worked with pride and developed many friendships.
Time away from work suited Doug in the ways that mattered most to him. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and nearly anything that kept him outdoors. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, finding his greatest comfort and joy in the moments shared with them.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sue Butcher; children, Susan King and John (Colleen) Butcher; grandchildren, Ryan, Madalyn, Alison, Samantha, and Amie; and great grandchildren, Kyle, Eleanor, Savannah, Olive, Lillian, Avery, Carter, Bryson, Andrew, Bennett, and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth (Hilander) Butcher; son-in-law, Alan King; and brother, Lonnie Butcher.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 - 11 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg.
