Imogene "Betty" Swanson

Swanson, Imogene “Betty”, age 88, of Lebanon passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties, Franklin, OH. She was born August 28, 1924 in Galesburg, IL to the late Illif and Flossie (Rodgers) Simkins. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Ray J. Swanson (2010); her daughter, Jacqueline R. Haskins; a brother, Wyman Simkins and a sister, Connie Danforth. Betty is survived by her son, Duane (Susan) Swanson of Lebanon; grandchildren, Abigail Swanson of St. Petersburg, FL, Matthew (Christy) Swanson of Mason, OH, Cassidy Swanson of Lebanon and Mindy (Jeremy) Hartzell of Basalt, CO; great grandchildren, Cole, Emme and Kamryn; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was a registered nurse who had trained at Peoria Methodist Hospital and practiced for many years in Tiskilwa, IL at the office of Dr. McQueen. Later Betty served as the activities director for Prairie View Nursing Home in Princeton. She was a life-time member of the Princeton United Methodist Church enjoyed playing golf and watching professional basketball and tennis. Memorial services will be hosted by the family at a later date in both Lebanon and Princeton.
