Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Harold Jenkins, his brother Ralph, his sister Sharron, and his son, Jason. He is survived by his wife Sue, whom he married December 20, 1969, his daughters, Cynthia Jones and Eryn Hanes (David Judge), seven grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and his sister, Gloria Bausmith (Harry).
A 1959 graduate of Washington High School in Washington Court House, Ohio, Jerry served in the Ohio National Guard before going to work for Western Electric. He remained in the telecommunications field for 47 years, retiring in 2012 from AT&T Mobility.
One of the joys of Jerry’s life was the many years spent coaching softball in the MCYBSA. Many young players made up the Roy Rogers t-ball and softball teams he coached, and he took pride in their achievements as they grew up.
The family will honor his passing privately. Please consider a donation to Foundation Fighting Blindness (www.fightingblindness.org) or to a nonprofit of your choice in Jerry’s memory.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.gebhartschmidtparramore.com for the Hanes family.
