John Albert Bruning, 84, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at his home on the morning of December 25, 2025. He was a beloved uncle and a member of the local community. John was born on October 3, 1941, and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his father, Albert Bruning; his mother, Florence; and his sister, Marian. He served in the Peace Corps in his young adulthood, including travel to Ecuador during his service. He earned a college degree and built a career as a freelance photojournalist, editor, and journalist, and his photos and articles were published in the Dayton Daily News. He had a lifelong passion for the Cincinnati Reds and also enjoyed staying current on the news, visiting the casino, volunteering, and walking the area surrounding his home in Centerville Park Apartments, where he lived for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister. He is survived by his niece, Diane Giglio; his nephew, Ken Monahan; their families; his close friends and neighbors; and his chosen family: Jeannine, Alexis, and Judith Allen. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
