

He is survived by his children, Jeff (Gwen) Soter, Michael (Clarissa) Soter, Tammy Soter-Simoes, John (Shelly) Soter, Joe (Lisa) Soter, and Tim (Holly) Soter; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Regina (Joe) Berkemeier; brother, Wesley Soter; sisters-in-law, Peggy Soter and Tannis Soter. Also survived by Sharon (Jim) Downey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Myrtle Soter; brothers, Bill Jr. and Joe Soter; and great-grandson, Christian.
John proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He was a toolmaker at Harrison Radiator and retired after 30 years. His proudest accomplishments were his kids and grandkids.
He will be missed for his wit and infectious laughter. We will surely miss you, Dad / Papaw, but know you are with your fishing buddies arguing right now. Go in peace with God’s grace. A memorial gathering will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg, OH. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Miamisburg, OH. A celebration of John’s life will follow at American Legion Post #165 in Miamisburg.
