He was born on February 10, 1937, in Miamisburg, the son of John R. and Ruby (Leslie) Wantz.
Jack married the love of his life, Joyce, on June 2, 1962. Joyce preceded him in death and passed away on May 11, 2024.
Jack was a faithful volunteer at Sycamore Hospital. He was fortunate to retire twice; first from Dayton Walther and then from Hillgrove Cemetery. Jack was a member and Past Master of the Minerva Lodge #98 F. & A.M. in Miamisburg. He was an avid golfer and loved all sports. Jack attended Wittenburg College and was a graduate of Miamisburg High School.
He is survived by his daughters; Tammy (Barry) Ward and Pam Huff; grandchildren, Zach Ward, Hailey (Tyler) Burke, Josh Huff and Jacob Huff; great grandchildren, Riley Larkin and Parker Burke; siblings, Claudia O’Donnell, Jerry Wantz and Jim Wantz; and sons, Mike and Mark Wantz.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Eileen Thoma.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Masonic services will begin at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home followed immediately by the funeral service officiated by Rev. Dr. Stuart Rammes.
