

She was born on September 19, 1939, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Duncan) Dettwiller.
Judy was a devout Catholic beginning her spiritual journey with St. Mary’s Parish of Portsmouth, Ohio and then membership with Our Lady of Good Hope, Miamisburg in 1964. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and continued her education by graduating from Portsmouth Business College. Judy was a devoted mother and raised five children. She began her 30+ year career with Avon in 1982 and grew her business to being a top seller and achieving President’s Club status. She enjoyed sharing her love and knowledge of skin care products and cosmetics. Judy spent many years as a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, a Dayton Daily News newspaper counselor, and active in the church choir. Judy enjoyed playing the piano, playing Bridge, cooking and baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and making every holiday and birthday special.
She is survived by her children, David (Ellen) Ratay of Jamestown, Jennifer (Ron) Hughes of Miamisburg, Mary Christina Ratay of British Columbia, Susan (Darren) Conrad of Springboro and Jonathan (Theresa) Ratay of West Chester; grandchildren, Alex (Natasha), Rachael (Ryan), Lauren, Jocelyn, and Jason (Cadence); great grandson, Lukas; sisters, Bette Quesenbery, Gloria Rolf, Cheryl Bowes and Margie Dettwiller; brother-in-law, Gene Ratay; sister-in-law, Sharon Sturgeon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Ratay; brother, Charles Dettwiller; son-in-law, Paul “Gator” Couch; brothers-in-law, John Rolf, Ron Bowes, Bill Quesenbery, John Rataj, Stanley Ratay, Joe Ratay, and Ray Kritis; sisters-in-law, Roseann Dettwiller, Evelyn Ratay, Stephanie Kritis, and Mary Norton; as well as her nephews, Doug Dettwiller and Erik Keeney.
A special thank you to Judy’s dedicated caregivers, Deana Jaco, Makenzy Jaco, and Alayna Jaco for their loving care. In addition, thank you to Travis, Dominic, and TC for all of your support. Also, a thank you to Hospice of Middletown, Shelby RN, Casey Care Aide, Brittany Massage Therapist, Stephanie Social Worker, and Chaplain Barry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Miamisburg. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.
