He is survived by his mother, Linda Windell; sons, Jameson (Sydney) Windell, Jonathan (Gretchen) Windell including grandchildren, Charlee, Rory, Otis, Lanie, Lucy, Lennon, and Lyla, along with Zachary (Aleshia) Windell; sisters, Katrina (Mick) Miller, Amanda (Dr. Joseph) Haake, Susannah (Bill) Briscoe, Samantha (Jeremy) Creveling; brother, Michael (Angel) Windell; sister-in-law, Diane (Robert) DiTommaso; brother-in-law, Don McLendon; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Ruby.
Justin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie G. (Young) Windell; father, Dr. Gary F. Windell; and sister, Elizabeth McLendon.
Justin graduated from Corydon Central High School in 1977. He was defensive captain of the football team and claims to have started the trend of most tackles by J. Windell. At age 21 he started his career with CSX Railroad, retiring as Director of Track. In addition to his career at the railroad, he was a lifelong, multi-generational farmer on the family farm in Corydon, Indiana. He loved the idea of planting crops, watching them grow, harvesting, and being able to provide for those he loved.
He met Debbie in 1991 and they were married on May 26, 1995; a union that spanned over 28 years. Much to Debbie’s chagrin, he loved Westerns and James Bond movies. Together, they enjoyed camping trips, playing cards, and time with their sons. Justin wasn’t shy about his love for his sons, who are his pride and joy. He also enjoyed all the time spent with family and friends, as well as cooking.
Justin left us way too soon and will be deeply missed by all the lives he has touched.
The family would like to extend a warm Thank You for the incredible and heartfelt care that the nursing staff provided to Justin and the rest of the family at Kettering Medical Center Main Campus. He has chosen to provide the gift of life through organ donation.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Jonathan Windell officiating.
