

RUCKER, Kathy E. (Scurlock) age 65 and longtime resident of Centerville returned to her eternal home Monday, March 14, 2016 while in the care of Tidewell Hospice, Englewood, FL. Kathy was a resident of North Port, FL and had endured a long battle with ALL Cancer. She was born May 16, 1950 on Jackson, OH to the late Earl William and Mildred Kathryn (Hatten) Scurlock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepson, William R. Rucker, Jr. earlier this month. She is survived by her husband and Valentine's Day sweetheart of 30 years, William R. Rucker, Sr.; sons, Jeff Barker of Fairborn and Brian (Molly) Barker of Centerville; step-sons, Wayne Rucker, Westley Rucker and Doris Rucker; sisters, Karen Tomlin of Englewood and Carmel Willoughby of Miamisburg; over 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren, daughters-in-law and many other extended family members. Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Miamisburg High School, continuing her education at Miami University in business and secretarial work. Kathy worked at Elder-Beerman and was an executive secretary for the manufacturing department at Kodak only leaving after her illness prevented her from work. Kathy loved to sew, sharing her creations with those closest to her as gifts from her heart. She kept and immaculate and stunning garden sharing the beauty of her green-thumb and hard work with guests and neighbors. Family will receive friends and loved ones from 2:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funerals services will immediately follow at 5:00 pm and will be officiated by Pastor Danny Griffith. In accordance with her wishes, Kathy will remain in the loving care of her husband at her Florida home following cremation.
