Kenneth C. Hagwood, 89, formerly of Centerville, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at Life Care Hospital, Miamisburg. He was born November 22, 1928 in West Carrollton, Ohio the son of William and Myrtle (Ginter) Hagwood. Kenneth was the valedictorian of the 1947 graduating class at West Carrollton High School. He then served his country in the United States Army where he was trained as a guided missile technician during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as Corporal Hagwood. In 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Julia Shupert. He built his own home from the ground up. This was a great display of his quality hard work and his ability to make or fix anything. His home was featured in the Dayton Daily News. Kenneth did mechanical and engineering work at multiple Packard dealerships around the area and then in 1956 he began working at Delco Products, a division of General Motors, where he retired after 30 years of service. A highlight of his career with General Motors, was his development of the patented “Superlift Unit with Car Trim Height Control” (patent 3, 525, 512). He was a member of Trinity Church in Miamisburg (since 1966), the Dayton Wright Brothers Packard Club, the Packard Club of America, and the Antique Automobile Club of America. Kenneth was a loving family man and will be missed for his easy going nature, his sense of humor and the ‘twinkle in his eye’. Kenneth is survived by his children, Stephen and (Pamela Stuchlak) Hagwood and Paige (Robert) Giannetti; grandchildren, Sean and Devyn Giannetti and Kristopher Hagwood; sister, Patricia Dearth; brother-in-law, John ‘Phil’ (Rita) Shupert; sister-in-law, Frances Hagwood; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 57 years, Julia Hagwood; and his brothers, Jack and Carl Hagwood.
