

of Miamisburg went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. She was 81 years old. Preceded in death by her mother and dad, Laura and Evan Manis; 5 brothers: Bert, JC, Donald, George and Bazzle; 4 sisters: Ruby, Hazel, Lois and Maude; a grandson, Logan and a step-grandson, Anthony. Born in Eidson Tennessee, she accepted Jesus as her savior as a young girl at Grassy Springs Baptist Church in Tennessee and went on to become a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist church of Miamisburg, Ohio for thirty-eight years. Leaving to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of forty-five years, Paul Johnson, four daughters, Patricia Smith of West Carrollton, Jane (Butch) Whitaker of Wilmington, Kathy (Jerry) Zink of West Carrollton and Pauletta Wessel of Miamisburg. Six grandchildren- Robert (Sue), Doug, Kelli, Julia, Jason (Erin) and Tyler, twelve great-grandchildren – Codi, Samantha, Brian, Cheyenne, Dustin, Brett, Dalton, Travis, Hunter, Macy, Avin and Ainsley and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother and sisters – Will Manis, Bonnie Reed, Vivian Helton, Hattie Collins, and Mary Lamon as well as four step-daughters – Ellouise, Evelena, Pauline, and Trish and their families, several nieces and nephews and in-laws. Mildred enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting dolls, working in her flower garden and reading – especially the Bible, which she read through three times. Mildred said her greatest happiness in life was her family, attending church and listening to her pastor. There was never a better wife, mother or grandma. “Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Proverbs 31:28. Mildred’s Pastor, Brother Mike Miracle will officiate along with her brother, Will Manis. The family will receive friends at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 522 12th St, Miamisburg from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, June 8 and from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, June 9 at the church. The funeral will be held at church on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. Interment following at Highland Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Acclaim Hospice and Heartland of Centerville, especially Angie, Barb, Dorothy, Crystal and Alice, the nurses and aides of the Arcadia Unit and Acclaim Hospice for their kindness and service to Mildred the last few years, and to Carleen for her care of Mildred while at home.
