

Fugate, Rachel Ann, age 90, passed away on Thursday, April 23rd at Otterbein Senior Living Community, Lebanon under the care of Otterbein Hospice. She was born on August 19, 1935, to the late Walter F and Gladys V (Barber) Bryant in West Liberty, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Dick” Maxwell Fugate, as well as her sister, Betty Jo Snodgrass, and brother, Ronald Foster Bryant. She is survived by her step-daughter, Patti Dunlap, son, Walter Fugate and daughter, Anne (Steven) Siple; granddaughter, Heather (Nick) O’Donnell; grandsons Jamie Dunlap, Thomas, Matthew and Nathaniel Siple; great-grandchildren Alex, Drew and Owen O’Donnell, and Nova and Lera Dunlap. Rachel was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School, and a 1957 graduate of Miami University. Upon graduation, she taught math at Anderson High School until her marriage in 1963. After her children started school, she went back to teaching, first as a Learning Disabilities tutor at the junior high level, then as a full time Learning Disabilities teacher at Miamisburg High School. Rachel enjoyed sewing and spending time with her extended family, and spent many years playing dominoes with her sister, cousins and their spouses every Friday night. A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Rev.
