

WOODWARD, Ray W. Jr., age 90 of West Carrollton, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his residence under the care of Heartland Hospice. He was born December 11, 1922 in Miamisburg to the late Ray W., Sr. and Belva (Maude) Woodward. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. (Helen) Woodward and son-in-law, David Mendoza. He is survived by his adoring wife of exactly 67 years, Cora L. (Whisman) Woodward, his children, Clara (Charles “Ed”) Bach of Miamisburg, Melissa (Thomas) Guipe of Jonesboro, AR and Charles S. (Tammy) Woodward of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Christy (Erik) , Krista (James), Jamie (Al), Benjamin (Paige), Autumn, Carlie and Jesse; nine great grandchildren; his close cousin, Paul (Naomi) Lindsey; nephew and care giver, Paul Whisman; a very special friend and a blessing to the family, Sharon Azbilt as well as many other extended family and friends. Ray was a 1940 graduate of Miamisburg High School and a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He owned and operated Woodward Printing Service for almost 50 years and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Ray was a member of American Legion Post 165 and enjoyed carpentry, baseball, playing the cornet, automobiles, motorcycles, roller skating and yard work. He was a humble example of kindness and generosity to all who knew him. His work ethic and commitment to family were his guiding forces. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 14, 2013 also at the funeral home and officiated by his nephew, Rev. James Chrisman. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice at 3131 S. Dixie Hwy.
