Richard Dick L. Allen

ALLEN, Richard L. “Dick”, age 87 of Miamisburg, passed away Friday evening November 2, 2012 at Heartland of Miamisburg. He was born March 20, 1925 in Santa Monica, CA to the late Mark and Florence (Holland) Allen. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Mark. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Willis Dickerson Allen; his son, Dennis (Sheila) Allen of West Chester, CA; daughter, Carolyn Bell of Dayton; grandchildren, Bryan and Suzanne and his beloved pets. Richard was a graduate of Santa Monica High School and was employed for over 50 years as a sales representative and owner in the automotive industry working for several dealerships including Walker Brothers and Moorman. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2050 and Miamisburg Christian Church. Richard enjoyed time with family and friends, eating out and the church. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, Novemebr 7, 2012 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 AM Thursday November 8 also at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Mike Tuttle. Burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Miamisburg Christian Church at 1146 E. Central Ave. Miamisburg, OH 45342 or to Humane Society of Greater Dayton at 1661 Nicholas Rd., Dayton, OH 45417. I have know Dick since 1972 and always enjoyed being with him. We missed him when he moved east, but he frequently came back to visit family and friends. We had good times at our home with Dick and Mary. Our sincerest condolences to the entire family. He will be missed.

Dick was truly a bright light in this world and we will all miss him so very much. We could always count on him to smile and say something positive and be optimistic no matter what was happening. I hope those of us who knew him will do our best to carry that on in our lives. What a blessing it was to know him.
