Robert James Mitman, age 92, of Miamisburg, OH, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1934, in Whitfield, OH, to the late Vernon I and Edna (Marrs) Mitman. He graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1953. He worked at NCR and retired from Delco Products (model shop) in 1998. Bob was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Church and attended Holy Family parish in Middletown, OH. He was a member of the Miamisburg High School Alumni Association, Miamisburg Lions Club, American Legion Post #165, Miamisburg Zone Committee, and the Miamisburg School Board for 16 years where he received the Recognition of Exemplary Service to Education Award.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, taking them on vacations, veriest camps, and sporting events, and with his great-grandchildren, playing silly games and attending school functions for all of them. He served in the US Marine Corps Reserves from 1954 – 1956 and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Semper Fi!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Orville A and Marjorie (Schieble) Lucas; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Judith Mitman; and son-in-law, Joseph Schwarzman.
Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara (Lucas) Mitman; daughters, Marcia Mitman, Diane Schwarzman (Ed Reed), and Samantha Palmer (Stephen); grandchildren, Leah Lauver Brewster, Alyssa Lauver (Alexis De La Cruz), Andrew Palmer (Heather) of Georgetown, KY, and Nicholas Palmer of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Landon Lauver, Georgia Brewster, Brantley Brewster, Penelope Palmer and Robert Palmer of Georgetown, KY, Jaxson Simpson of Las Vegas, NV, and Charlee Palmer of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Ann (Lucas) Harris; nephews, Brett Harris, and Thaddeus Mitman of Ricardo, TX; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his constant companion, Katie dog.
A visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Hope Church Parish Center, 6 S. 3rd St. Miamisburg, OH 45342. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Hope Church with Fr. John Civille celebrant. Military Honors with rifle salute will follow at Veterans Memorial Park, 426 E. Central Ave. Miamisburg.
