Robert E. "Bob" Thompson

age 79 of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents; Chester and Leona Thompson; brother, Leroy Thompson and his mother-in-law, Wilma Ellen “Meemaw” Roof. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol (Roof) Thompson; daughters, Rhonda Geiger, Teresa Thompson; a son, John Thompson; grandchildren, Carly Geiger and Sydney Rose; a sister, Geraldine Schroeder and many dear friends. Bob graduated from Miamisburg HS in 1950 and University of Dayton in 1955. He joined the ROTC at UD from 1951-1955 then went on to serve in the US Army from 1956-1962. Bob’s passion for music led him to direct the marching band and choir for 30 years in several local schools. He has been director of the Trinity United Church of Christ Miamisburg Jr. and adult choir for 20 years and directed the Miamisburg Community Chorus for 25 years. After retiring from teaching, Bob worked at Voss Chevrolet, the Miamisburg News and as a realtor. Friends and family may visit from 10:00AM-11:30 AM on Thursday, December 29 at Trinity United Church of Christ Miamisburg, 203 East Linden Ave. followed by a service at 11:30AM with Rev. Ed Long officiating. Interment following at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bob and his love of music may be given to the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
