

He was born on July 24, 1943, in Dayton, the son of Cletus and Sylvia (Goins) McGriff.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of Miamisburg High School and a graduate of Sinclair Community College. He worked at Dupps Company in Germantown and then Rockwell Manufacturing prior to being drafted in the United States Army in 1968. Ron served his country as a rear door gunner in Vietnam and was a member of the Army band. He was awarded the Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After returning from the war, he worked at Chemineer until his retirement. Ron was a member of the Minerva Masonic Lodge #98 F. & A.M., the VFW Hammond Memorial Post 3438, American Legion Post 165, and attended St. Jacob Lutheran Church. In August of 2024, Ron was privileged to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. along with his daughter, Christene as his guardian. Ron enjoyed golfing, boating at Norris Lake, scuba diving, traveling with friends, spending time in Gatlinburg, the Florida Keys and most recently, Europe.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Erbaugh) McGriff; daughter, Christene (Chris) Kuhn; granddaughter, Alexandra “Alex” Kuhn; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” (Susie) Erbaugh; as well as nephew, Mike (Amy) McGriff.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Boyd Hope; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Catherine Erbaugh; brother, Glenn (Cleo) McGriff; and nieces, Heidi Erbaugh and Linda Smith.
Friends may gather for a Celebration of Life from 11 AM - 12:30 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. A service will follow at 12:30 PM at the funeral home.
