WALLING, Samuel Henry, age 85 of Miamisburg passed away Monday evening June 23, 2014 under the care of Hospice of Dayton. He was born one of eight children in Dayton on August 26, 1928 to the late Michael S. and Emma (Schmitz) Walling. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary (Conrad) Walling; his daughter, Connie Plisek of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Jesse and Katie (Adam), and great grandchildren, Jordyn and Jenna as well as many other extended family. Following his marriage to Rosemary, he worked for several years as a carpenter to support his family. He finally realized his career when he became director of maintenance for Bethany Lutheran Village and oversaw a great deal of their successful development and expansion over the years before he retired in the 90’s. Sam was quite a character and dearly cherished his family and friendships. He loved to travel the rivers of America, enjoyed the simple pleasures of the outdoors and created treasured keepsakes for his family out wood. Sam was also a member of the American Legion. A memorial service will be hosted by the family 7:00 pm Monday, June 30, 2014 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Springlawn Cemetery, Williamsport, OH will serve as Sam’s final resting place and military honors will be served.
