Shirley Ann Heller Mahrt

MAHRT, Shirley A., of West Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 the day following her 86th birthday at Elmcroft of Washington Township under the care of Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 12, 1930 in West Carrollton, OH to the late Howard and Louise (Haught) Heller. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James Mahrt Sr. (1983); a daughter, Pamela Gengler (2013); son, James Mahrt JR. (2002) and siblings, Robert Heller and Emily Jackson. Shirley is survived by her adoring daughter, Joyce (Kurt) Friedmann of Springboro and Florida; grandchildren, Jason (Leah) Mahrt and their three children, Riley, Matt, and Nathan of Fairborn, Julie (Jerry) Woodruff and their two children Tyler and Savannah, of Springboro, Jesse (Shawntel Taylor) Gengler of Miamisburg, Janet (Jim) Gilchrist of Arkansas and their four children, Stephanie, Catherine, Rebecca and Rachel, and James (Angela Rouse) Friedmann of Lebanon. Her brothers , James Heller of Franklin and Eugene Heller of Middletown, as well as several nieces and nephews. Shirley was a graduate of Franklin High School and dedicated her life to family as a wife, mother and homemaker. Shirley loved gardening and caring for her yard, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends. She kept fit, active and social by dancing every Friday and Saturday at the Christopher Club well into her seventies and will always be remembered for her wit, smile and zest for life. Family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00-11:30 am Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Services will immediately follow at 11:30 also at the funeral home . Calvary Cemetery, Dayton will serve as Shirley’s final resting place.
