

RHINEHAMMER, T. Ben, age 85 of Miamisburg, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Kingston of Miamisburg under the care of Hospice of Dayton. Ben was born February 14, 1927 in Toledo, OH to the late Benjamin Harrison and Alice Mary (O’Neill) Rhinehammer. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his brother, John Wesley Rhinehammer. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Elaine (Hahn) Rhinehammer; daughters, Anne (Rick) Potteiger of Eaton and Cynthia (Ken) Gasser of DeKalb, IL; grandchildren, Melissa (Richard) Chavers of Miamisburg, David (Kimberli) Potteiger of Milwaukee, WI, Adam Gasser of Chicago, IL, and Jessica (Michael Bradshaw) Gasser of Boston, MA; great grandchildren, Kiera, Amara, Asia, Benjamin, Blayke, Madyson and Tyson; sisters-in-law, Alma Rhinehammer of Warm Springs, GA and Mary Hahn of Mesa, AZ and nieces, Becky, Myra, Sue and Alice. Ben was a graduate of Findlay High School, completed his Bachelor of Science at Bowling Green State University and went on to receive his PhD in chemistry at Indiana University. Ben also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from Monsanto Company, Mound Lab as a Senior Research Specialist. Ben was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Miamisburg and served on church council for many years. Family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Miamisburg. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM also at the church and officiated by Rev. Christina Scheuller. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or to St. John’s Lutheran Church at 470 S. Gebhart Church Rd., Miamisburg, OH 45342.
