Vince spent part of his youth in Germany, where he completed high school before returning to the United States to pursue higher education. He attended Michigan State University, before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War era—a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and resilience.
After his military service, Vince returned to MSU and obtained a Master’s degree before he embarked upon a very accomplished career which culminated with his retirement from the Pepsi Corporation.
A devoted follower of Jesus, Vince was an active member of Living Hope Church for 18 years. His faith was not only a cornerstone of his personal life but also a guiding force in how he treated others—with kindness, humility, and compassion.
Vince is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda; children Scott (Denise) Barion, Michelle Barion, Jackie (Rick) Bentley, Bud (Suzi) Sweeney, and Doug (Angela) Sweeney; grandchildren Ava, Matt, Heather, Rob (Sarah), Michael (Amanda), Cory (Erin), Trevor and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Dillan, Coltin, Silus, Veda, Heidi, Addison, Nova, Owen and Zachary. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Martinez and Phyllis Barion; siblings-in-law: Cathie Stephens, Mark Roy, Connie Masten and Scott Ward; faithful longtime caregivers Peggy Crouch and Stevan Jarrett; as well as a tremendous number of other family members and friends—including many good friends at Springboro Dorothy Lane Market—who were blessed by his warmth and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chet and Regina Barion, and his son Donnie Sweeney.
Vince had an extraordinary love for children—especially his great-grandchildren—who brought him immeasurable joy. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched with his boundless affection and selflessness.
