

BERNARD, Wilbur E. “Jack”, age 89 of Franklin, OH passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at Ohio Veterans Home, Georgetown, OH. He was born January 3, 1923 to the late George and Sarah Ellen (Taylor) Bernard at their farm on Dutch Ridge in Athens County, OH. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maxie Irene (Cantrell) Bernard (June 2012); brothers, Arnold, Harvey, Herman, Vern, and Ernest and sisters, Althea Whaley and Gertrude Morgan. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Mildred) Bernard of Albany, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Betty Bernard of Dayton; many nieces and nephews and his caregivers, Jim and Patricia Hembree of Carlisle. Jack was a 1941 graduate Troy High School in Coolville, OH and a WWII Veteran who served his country both at home and in the European Theatre. After his military service, he and his wife, Maxie, moved to Franklin, Ohio, where they happily spent their life together. Jack retired from National Cash Register after almost 30 years of employment and enjoyed fishing, travel and home improvement in his spare time. Family will receive friends Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM also at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Jerry Vaughn. Burial will take place at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennyroyal Baptist Church at 3733 Pennyroyal Rd., Franklin, OH 45005.
