ALEXANDER NAGY, age 78. Beloved husband of Ibolya (Kirjak). Loving father of Alexander Nagy, Jr. (Erika), Ibolya “Violet” Imre (Lajos "Louis") , and Tibor Nagy. Cherished grandfather of Mark Daniel Imre, David Jacob Imre, Laurant Thomas Imre, Naomi Nagy, and Lidia Nagy. Dearest brother of Jozsef Nagy (Magdalena) and Elizabeth Nagy. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Alexander (Sándor) was born in Bihar Püspöki (Nagyvárad), Romania to Erzsébet and József Nagy and was the middle child between Erzsébet and József (Jr.). After completing his schooling (Tool & Die Maker), he entered mandatory military training for two years.
He met Ibolya Kirják in 1968, who would become his wife a year later. God blessed their union with three children: Alex Jr. (Sándor), Ibolya (Violet) and Tibor.
In 1980, the family immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, where they settled and immediately became integral members of the Hungarian Bethany Baptist Church.
The house in Cleveland where the family settled would serve as a future home for many fellow Hungarian immigrants as they began their lives in the States. Alex retired from Paramount Metal Stamping after 30 years. During his time there, he brought several fellow immigrants to work with him as they established their lives here. He was so valued by his employer, Peter Cole, that he recently established a $100,000 scholarship in Alex’s name at Mr. Cole’s alma mater, Idaho State University.
Alex was a beloved husband, father and grandfather (Naomi and Lidia Nagy; Mark, David and Laurant Imre; and Cintia Kirják). His grandchildren grew up enjoying weekly Tuesdays with Alex and Ibolya, which will be a lifelong highlight of the grandchildren’s lives.
They enjoyed everything from fishing trips, to walks in the neighborhood, hours on the playground and sledding in the snow, building sheet forts in their living room, watching him weld in his garage, feeding the chickens and trips to Amish country, and many other things to make their childhoods magical.
Alex dedicated his life to his Lord Jesus Christ. His motto was “the Lord is Good,” and this was evident in every aspect of his life.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6 PM in the funeral home. A Committal Prayer Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11AM in the Hungarian Bethany Baptist Church, 4124 Stickney Ave, Cleveland, OH 44109 (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH AT 10:45 AM). Interment will follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
