Jerry was born on April 27, 1939, in Birchton, West Virginia, to the late Lonnie and Iva Crouch. He was the last surviving sibling of six, preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Jiggs, Gordie, Candy, Karin, and Judy. He was also the oldest living member of the Crouch family known to us, a distinction he carried with humility, wisdom, and grace.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 7, 1956, until June 22, 1959. On May 24, 1958, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Crouch. Together they built a beautiful life and home in Cleveland, Ohio, sharing a remarkable love story that spanned nearly 68 years. Following Barbara's passing on February 27, 2026, Jerry deeply missed her and often expressed his longing to be reunited with her. The family finds great comfort in knowing they are together again in eternity.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Jerry's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Sandy) Crouch and Scott Crouch; his grandchildren, Crystal, Angie (Charles), Amber, Joshua (Carli), and Katie (Rich); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Isaac, Veronica, Tyler, Jackson, Eloise, Michael, and Troy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his love, guidance, and example.
Above all else, Jerry was a passionate man of God whose faith never wavered. He was a faithful member and leader at Unity Free Will Baptist Church and was admired and respected by many. Jerry lived the faith he professed, demonstrating Christ's love through his actions, service, and unwavering commitment to others. He was faithful in church attendance, steadfast in prayer, and those who knew him understood that when Jerry said he would pray for you, he truly would.
Jerry was gifted with his hands and possessed a remarkable ability to fix almost anything. He enjoyed woodworking, creating and building new things, and generously sharing his talents with others. An avid gardener, he took great pride in cultivating an abundant garden, and countless family members, friends, and neighbors were grateful recipients of the produce he so generously shared, earning him the affectionate nickname "The Tomato Man". He was also known for his competitive spirit, especially when it came to bowling and cornhole. At Unity Free Will Baptist Church, he earned legendary status in cornhole tournaments and never missed an opportunity for friendly competition.
Jerry and Barbara were pillars of their family, providing strength, wisdom, love, and steadfast faith through generations. While their family is heartbroken to have lost them both within such a short time, they rejoice in the assurance that Jerry and Barbara are reunited and celebrating together in the presence of their Lord and Savior.
A viewing will be held at Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 6658 Fry Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130, on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with interment immediately following at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick, Ohio.
