Betty J. Mehalic (nee Cervone), entered into eternal life January 3, 2026, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of George Sr. for 70 years; devoted mother of George Jr. (Lois), Michael (deceased), and Jeffrey "Zeke" (Avery); cherished grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 25, and great-great grandmother of 4; dear sister of Thelma Gilghrest (George-deceased), and the late Nancy, Lena (Don), Albert (Ida), Francis "Bucky" (Jean), Antoinette (Don), and Rosa (John); Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted and loving wife of George Sr. sharing 70 years of marriage with her husband, a union marked by deep affection, commitment, and a lifetime of shared memories. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary just last year, a rare and joyful milestone and a testament to the love, partnership, and perseverance they built together.
Betty was a selfless and fierce lover of her family, especially the children. That love for her family showed itself in countless everyday ways - through constant phone calls, a deep interest in their lives (sometimes with a level of attentiveness she was well known for), and an unwavering presence they could always count on. Family was the center of her world, and she nurtured it with devotion and care.
When she wasn’t with or talking to family, she enjoyed her soap operas and faithfully cheering on her Cleveland Cavaliers. She watched The Young and the Restless for as long as Victor Newman was on the show and was a big fan of LeBron James, rarely missing a game on television, though she was often sleeping before the end of the game. Above all, she was a woman of faith, which guided her life and sustained her through every season. She was also a great friend to so many. Her love, loyalty, quiet strength, and unique quirks will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
