Deborah Lynn Fernengel-Huffman

Deborah "Debbie" L. Fernengel-Huffman (nee Winterich) passed on July 22, 2026, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Jeffrey Huffman and the late Alan Fernengel; devoted mother of Christopher Fernengel (Cathy), Abbey Fernengel, Emily Huffman, Scott Huffman (Kate), Laura Schultz (David), and Ellen Huffman (Quinn); cherished grandmother of Will, Jon, Ben, Lorelei, Jack, Josie, Jonah, Alex, Evelyn, Jill, and Rachel; dear daughter of Richard Winterich (Lucille) and the late Cynthia Winterich; caring sister of Darlene, Denise, Lynn, and the late Rick;

Debbie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cherished friend to so many.

Debbie was blessed with two loving parents, Dick and Cynthia, and treasured the memories she shared with her siblings, Rick, Darlene, and Denise, throughout her childhood. The love and closeness they built in those early years only deepened, growing even stronger as adults.

When Debbie met Alan, her heart grew even fuller, and together they built a family with their children, Chris and Abbey. Their love and commitment created a foundation of warmth, devotion, and countless cherished memories. While balancing her career and raising her growing children, Debbie lovingly cared for her husband, Alan, throughout the final chapter of his life. She faced each responsibility with extraordinary strength, grace, and unwavering devotion.

Her heart expanded once again when she married Jeff and was blessed with four additional children: Emily, Scott, Laura, and Ellen. Over the years, her family continued to grow as she welcomed Cathy, Kate, David, and Quinn. She was filled with joy at the arrival of each grandchild, celebrating every new life as one of her greatest blessings.

Debbie's selfless spirit was evident in the way she cared for others. As a nurse, she served with compassion and dedication throughout her career. Her caring nature extended far beyond her profession, as she became an inspiration to Hallie through her love and encouragement and graciously welcomed Saori, a Japanese exchange student, into her home, making her feel like family during her time in America.

Her faith and kindness shone through her ministry within her church community, where she formed countless meaningful friendships and grew closer to Jesus.

Blessed with a creative spirit, she embraced countless crafting opportunities and delighted in sharing those moments with others, filling them with conversation, laughter, and fellowship.

Her grit and determination carried her through life's health challenges, with her devoted husband, Jeff, faithfully by her side, providing the love and strength she needed.

Debbie's life had a profound impact on everyone she met. Through her kindness, compassion, and genuine love for others, she left a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew her.

Her beautiful soul will not be forgotten.

The family will receive friends SUNDAY (Aug. 2) 4-7 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY RD., MIDDLEBURG HTS. (West of I-71)

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m., Monday August 3, 2026 at the funeral home.
