She was the beloved wife of David for 61 years; devoted mother of Jean Mewhinney (Kevin), Paul Wrentmore (Anita), and Barbara Thomas (Wally); and cherished grandmother of Kyle (Kristin), Allen, Clare, Dalton, Dillon, Garrett, Avery, Colin (Rachel), Aaron, and Jason.
She was the caring sister of Mary Silva; the late Ruth Mulkins (Edward) and the late Mark Schmotzer (Jeanne); and sister-in-law of Gene (Sylvia), both deceased; Donald Wrentmore (Elaine); Kathy Petras (Marty); and Jon Wrentmore (Denise). She was a dear aunt and friend to many and the loving daughter of the late Elmer and Eleanore Schmotzer.
Dora was a devoted member of the St. Albert the Great Parish community, where she sang in the choir and volunteered during Donut Sundays, happily helping to wipe tables and serve others.
She loved to travel and explored much of Europe, the Caribbean islands, and Alaska. Among her favorite destinations were Prague and Venice, and she absolutely loved Las Vegas. At home, she found joy in gardening and had a special gift for bringing even the most pitiful-looking plant back to life. She was also a wonderful cook and baker who loved hosting family and friends. Her door was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by, and there was always room for one more.
Above all, Dora was a woman with a truly pure heart. She was a loving, patient, and forgiving wife, mother, and grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. She loved her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were her own children. As a grandmother, she was always there to cheer on her grandchildren, attending softball and baseball games, school plays, choir concerts, and band performances. She celebrated every accomplishment, big or small, and was endlessly proud of each of them.
Dora had a beautiful way of making those she loved feel supported, cherished, and special. Her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She can never be replaced, and her passing leaves a hole in our hearts that will never truly be filled. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
