Edward was the beloved husband and best friend of Joyce (DuBois) Gorges for 54 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and countless cherished memories. Though Joyce preceded him in death on December 3, 2018, the love they shared remained a guiding presence throughout his life.
He was a devoted and loving father to Christopher (Cheryl) Gorges and Jeffrey (Monica) Gorges, and a proud grandfather to Jason (Deanna) Gorges, Sarah Gorges, Emily Gorges, and Alexander Gorges. Nothing brought Edward greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren. Whether swimming, attending their activities, sharing stories, or simply being together, he treasured every moment with them. He was also blessed to become a great-grandfather to Lucia Gorges and Sebastian Gorges.
Edward was the dear brother of Terry (Joanne) Gorges and Janice Sopko, whose husband, William, preceded her in death. He was a beloved uncle to many nephews and a niece who will remember his warmth, humor, and caring heart.
After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Edward retired from the United States Postal Service. Retirement gave him more time to enjoy the things he loved most. He and Joyce shared a passion for traveling and creating memories together. They enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards with family and friends, and embracing life's simple pleasures.
A faithful and active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Strongsville, Edward served as an usher and found great fulfillment in serving his parish community. His faith guided his life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and generosity he showed to others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, support charitable causes, and quietly care for those in need.
Edward had a special love for animals, especially his dogs, who were treasured members of the family. He found joy in their companionship and never passed up the opportunity to share a story about them.
Those who knew Edward will remember a man whose greatest happiness came from caring for others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at A. Ripepi & Sons Funeral Home, 18149 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130.
