Elisabeth C. Holter

Elisabeth “Libby” Holter was born in Groton, Connecticut on April 13, 1954 to Robert Willard and Margaret Hepburn Crouter. As a Navy “junior”, she lived with her parents, sisters Mary and Jane, and brother Mark in various duty stations. She was known among family members for her pain-in-the-ass antics and inability to stop talking in class.

She graduated from Milford (NH) Area High School and received a B.A. degree in Psychology from Hood College in 1976. Libby met Kurt Holter at Hood College their freshman year, where they were both in Hood Theater and spent their Junior Year Abroad at Richmond College outside London. They were married in 1976 at her family’s home in Amherst, NH. They made their home in Frederick, MD, where Libby worked in retail and performed in a number of Fredericktown Players productions.

She returned to school for her Associates Degree in Nursing and worked as an RN for Frederick Memorial Hospital for 33 years. Their son Colin was born in 1983, and now works for The Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Their son Andrew was born in 1990, and lives in Chicago, working as a writer and independent researcher.

She found her dream job in the Radiology Department as the Nurse Navigator for Women’s Imaging. Libby received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hood in 2015 and retired in 2020.

She is survived by her husband Kurt, sons Colin and Andrew, daughter-in-law Jessica Narum, grandson Campbell, and her sisters Mary and Jane and brother Mark. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Brooke Crouter and Kathleen Holter, and brothers-in-law Richard Brancato, Gavin Eyre, and Eric Holter, her niece Emily and nephews Graham Eyre and Clarke Holter, and many wonderful cousins.

She wishes to be remembered as Mom, Nana, and “Your Little Libby”. She liked Broadway and Hollywood musicals, and loved Sound Of Music sing-alongs. In lieu of flowers, please twirl around like Julie Andrews and sing at the top of your lungs.
