Graduate of Hoban Dominican High School 1961 and St. Alexis Hospital School of Nursing, 1964. For almost 40 years, Betty lived her calling as a nurse. She is remembered not only by her years of nursing, but rather by the difference she made during those years by being present with people in their births and special moments and easing their most difficult moments.
She treasured her time volunteering at Southwest General Residential Hospice, bringing comfort and joy to friends and families.
Betty was always busy and was most often found in her many beautiful gardens, buying new plants, weeding, enjoying the beauty of nature; driving through the Metroparks with the top down in her convertible; talking and playing with her grandchildren; enjoying sunsets over Lake Erie, traveling and cruising with her husband, and looking for the best bargain in town.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s memory to Southwest Residential Hospice, 18659 Drake Road, Strongsville, OH 44136.
Nurses are there when the last breath is taken and nurses are there when the first breath is taken. Although it is more enjoyable to celebrate the birth, it is just as important to comfort in death. – Christine Bell
