OBITUARY

Frederick "PaPa Moose" J. Duprow

December 6, 1937July 26, 2020

Frederick Joseph Duprow, age 82, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Frederick was born in Cleveland and raised in Bay Village Ohio.

Dearly beloved husband of 56 years to Carolyn (Erdodi), loving father of Chris and David (Christine), dearest Grandfather “PaPa Moose” of Ella and Elena, dear brother of Mary Nelson and Betty Kulis (both deceased), dearest brother-in-law of Laura (Rick, deceased) Nawrockie, dear uncle and friend of too many to name.

Fred was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard and began his professional career as a Frozen Food Salesman at Cliffdale (Deep Sea Foods). Although he enjoyed his time selling frozen foods he found his greatest joy selling Florida orange juice internationally.

Fred lovingly volunteered his time to a variety of organizations. Such as Berea Jaycees, Indian Guides, Boy Scouts, Bingo Caller (St. Bart’s and St. Mary’s), Holy Name Society, Usher, Eucharistic Minister, Berea City Court Bailiff, Middleburg Heights Planning and Zoning Board.

Fred had a charismatic personality, an infectious laugh and loved a great party. Sometimes he celebrated his birthday for a whole month. Fred enjoyed traveling and was fond of visiting his granddaughters in Alaska. He and Carolyn even drove the Alaskan-Canadian Highway twice. Fred avidly followed his son Chris’s trek of the Application Trail last year. His cheering will be missed at Cleveland Indians Baseball and Ohio State Football games.

Words truly can’t express how much Uncle Fred will be missed. His great sense humor and big smile always made everything so much more fun. Thoughts and prayers to all of you during this time.

Fred was a big man, both in stature and personality. That trip to France in 1993 When they came to visit you Dave, was an adventure. Fred rolled with it and was the life of the party despite the five of us (including my Mom) all wanting to do different things. It was chaotic and fun, and Fred was always ready with a Dad joke to lighten the mood. Good times.
I’m so sorry that he’s gone and wish you all peace as you grieve. Much love from Gia Fullerton Strang.

Dearest Carolyn, Chris and David,
It is going to take me a very long time to fully comprehend that Fred is no longer going to be with us in person. In my mind, he was always a very vital person--the life of the party, always willing to help--always there for you and for all his friends and family. Your family has been in my life for nearly 50 years; and in all ways that I can think of, we have been family--not just friends. I will miss talking with Fred. He was about cheerfulness and happiness; and he always brought a smile to your face and a laugh to the moment. And in my mind, he'll never really be gone. For the rest of my life, there isn't a Thanksgiving that I won't think of Fred--and of all of you! I'll always visualize all of you getting off the plane in Washington with the Thanksgiving turkey and most of the fixings--and the wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and that our families shared altogether; and I'll remember the trips that we took each year, after that great dinner--to New York City, Philadelphia, Annapolis, Baltimore and Williamsburg. And I'll remember Fred flying in all the way from Hong Kong for my 40th birthday. I loved Fred like a brother! 82 years is a great lIfespan. But honestly, there's never a right time for this type of loss. I am especially sad that I can't be there with you, now. But believe me when I tell you that I am there in my thoughts--and that I will never forget Fred! You all have my love and my sympathy. And we have wonderful memories of Fred that we can share for the rest of our lives.
With lots of love and my sincerest sympathy,
Peter

Every conversation or phone call with Fred always included at least one corny joke (usually more than one). He was a master at getting people to smile and to appreciate the best in life. We miss you Fred.

Aunt Carol, David, & Chris,
We were so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. We have fond memories of Fred at family gatherings - always generous with his laughter. We unfortunately can not attend the funeral in person since we are following the governor's COVID orders to quarantine for 14 days from our recent vacation in South Carolina. We truly wish we could be with you to remember the wonderful life of Fred and the positive impact he had on so many people. Our prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow and hope that good memories can carry you through this time of grief.
