

GREGORY J. PHILLIPS age 58. Beloved husband of Denise (nee Pfaffenberger). Loving father of Stephanie, Samantha and Sydney. Dearest son of the late Jack and Ruth Phillips. Dear brother of Marcia and Scott. Son in law of Clifford and Josephine Pfaffenberger and brother in law of Melanie Yanke (Paul) and Brian Pfaffenberger (Cheryl).
Greg graduated from Strongsville High School in 1980, then Baldwin-Wallace College in 1985. He was a history buff who enjoyed studying Native Americans, pirates and the World Wars. As a child he enjoyed spending time at his grandparent’s house in Deland, Florida. After meeting at work, Greg and Denise married 3 years later, on July 31, 1993. Every year on their anniversary they traveled to Niagara Falls, New York to spend time together. They also enjoyed hearing tribute bands at outdoor venues and playing various sports together. Greg was very active in his 3 daughter’s lives. They were all involved in Indian Princesses and he even coached all their soccer teams for over 10 years. He always enjoyed feeding the birds and had many bird feeders at the house. Greg also had a great love of trains, which included working on models and always building onto his set. As a family they often biked and hiked in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and on vacations. Greg worked for the Department of Anatomic Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic for almost 22 years. Over the years, he was in the Army Reserves, a volunteer for OHMR from 2004 — 2008 in the 1st Battalion and 2018 until present time in the 3rd Medical Detachment. He participated with COVID Relief for the Reserves during much of 2020. Greg was a loving husband and father who touched the lives of many people throughout the years. His entire life was spent in the City of Strongsville where he will most be remembered as an avid volunteer in the youth soccer community. He was a people person who made friends and connections everywhere he went.

Friends received Friday 3 – 8 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH (West of I-71).
