James Jacobs, 91, of North Royalton, Ohio passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he was born in the small community of Waco near Canton, OH and lived his entire life in Northeast Ohio. Jim proudly served in the United States Army overseas in Germany during the Cold War from 1955 to 1957 and also served with the Army Reserve in Canton, Ohio. He liked to share stories of his time in service and of the people he met there. He enjoyed reading, working in the garden, fossil hunting, and collecting arrowheads. In the late 1970’s he entered one of his arrowheads displays in the Stark County Fair and won first place! Without a doubt his greatest passion was fishing. He fished fresh and saltwater from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. He fished both in the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, almost always with his wife by his side. In his later years he went to fish daily in the Cuyahoga River near the Station Road Bridge in Brecksville. He was a wonderfully outgoing, smart man with a great sense of humor. He also possessed a unique talent, a special trick he performed many years ago where he would secretly catch a baby turtle and then have it magically appear hours later from a matchbox in his pocket. His daughters were always completely astounded by this feat and to this day have a special place in their hearts for turtles. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Angie (Evangeline), daughters Diana Jacobs (Jon Hawkins) of Seven Hills, OH, Becky Jacobs (Todd Hardgrove) of North Port, Fl, and granddaughters Michelle Rock (Matt Dailis) of Cleveland, OH and Zoey Rock (Ryan DiFranco) of Westlake, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will live on forever in the memories of those who loved him.
