Janku Suciu of Middleburg Heights, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Friday, September 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Janku was born May 26, 1936 in Yugoslavia.

As a young boy, Janku worked on his family's small farm. He married his wife, Anuska (Ana) in 1961. Janku and his family moved to France for a better life and later immigrated to Brooklyn, New York for a greater life, where his sister (Katica Okolisan), brother (Todor Sucu) and their families were waiting for their arrival. Janku worked as a butcher for many years while establishing a new life in America. Some years later, he moved his family to Lakewood, Ohio where he continued to sharpen his butcher skills working at Brookside Better Meats. Lakewood was a familiar place, consisting of a Romanian community many of which were from his childhood town in former Yugoslavia. In the late 70's, he moved his family to Middleburg Heights where he spent a majority of his life tending to his garden and yard and socializing with the neighbors. After Brookside Better Meats closed it doors, he started his own, one-man landscaping business with the help of his best friend, Vince Agresta. He continued landscaping for many years doing the work of 3 men. Janku loved meeting new people and making friends with anyone he encountered. His family considered him the unofficial "Mayor of Middleburg Heights" and official mayor of "Indian Creek". He had an infectious smile that would light up a room and a light-hearted personality that was filled with laughter, jokes, mispronounced English words, story-telling, Romanian and Serbian music, cured meats, and love for wrestling shows, Bonanza and above all, lottery scratch-off tickets. Janku will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Janku is survived by his wife, Ana Suciu, his son Zoli Suciu (Pam), daughter Gini Magat (Brian); grandchildren Jimmy Sucu and Damon & Brooklynn Magat; and great-grandson, Jimmy Sucu Jr.; brother, Todor Sucu (wife, Maria & daughter, Jackie), brother, Maksin Sucu (wife, Katica & daughter, Marika), and sister, Katica Okolisan (husband, Todor (deceased) and sons, Ginel & Jonel)

To the family of a wonderful man Jancu. I am friends with his son Jim since I was a young man.
I have very fond memories over the long years. Jancu and his wife treated me like family. They would do anything for you. Every time I would visit however so brief, Jim's mom would start loading the table to feed us. Jancu and his wife always had a hug or a kiss on the cheek. They both had the old country standards when morals and values flourished. He worked hard and loved his family and all that loved spilled over to close friends. A stand up man that you could feel trust in his handshake. If only this world had more like Jancu and his wife. God rest his soul. Dear Jesus Jancu, he was a walking Saint. I will never forget how special they treated us kids compared to my other friends parents. I am so glad to have met and knew such a wonderful person. Till this day nobody could compare. My families deepest sympathy, Love always, Nicky, Toni, Carly Cristino
