I got to work with Jeff at Harbor Light. He would come by my office and we would talk about his Casey and my Grace. He would beam with such pride when talking about his daughter. There was no doubt that she was the light in his life. I'm so heart broken for his family. My deepest sympathy

To Jeff:

I remember when you sipped your simple drink through the straw…
It seemed as though you were inhaling the world and exhaling humanity.

I remember your compliments on my Irish beret and my Palestinian *keffiyeh*.
And from the “Old Angle” of your smile I I perceive your protective love for your daughter.

I remember seeing you skating on your skateboard on Bridge Street,
rolling along like a Gaelic football.

I hold in my hands a beret I always wanted to give you,
but time got the better of me;
yet I also have the pen, pleading for a Salvation Army
to help you rest in peace...

Jen,
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are you and your family.

There was never a dance floor that Jeff didn’t love nor own! You wouldn’t have guessed from this pic of us tearing up the dance floor at my wedding reception, but he actually had a boot on from a sprained/broken ankle! Never even slowed him down a bit. He owned the dance floor and won the affection of everyone in attendance. So grateful for all the times Jeff brought a smile to my face and joy to my heart with his giant light. You will be missed beyond measure dear friend.

Until we dance again…

Beth

Jeff was my high school boyfriend and my first love. He was one of those people who seemed to excel at everything he tried—naturally athletic, competing in track and field and even taking on gymnastics his senior year. Some of my favorite high school memories have him right at the center of them.
More than anything, Jeff had a gift for making people feel welcome. He was a friend to everyone and truly never met a stranger. I'll always remember his beautiful smile, his infectious laugh, and the fun, carefree spirit that made him so unforgettable.

My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and everyone whose life he touched. May you find comfort in the countless memories you shared with him, and may his smile and spirit live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.

Hall family:

My condolences, and prayers to you and your family in your loss. I met Jeff at YSU and we were instantly connected by our passion for athletics and our backgrounds in track and field. I found Jeff to be uniquely genuine, charismatic and at times crazy which were all quality attributes that made him truly "one of a kind." Time and space don't allow me to tell the numerous crazy stories about our times at "J's" hanging out with Eric M, Jeremy Z and myself or just plain doing stupid college stuff, while trying to get an college education. Please cherish the memories of Jeff and his own personal unique take on his life.

Jeff was my ex-husband and devoted, proud father to our child, Casey. He was committed to peaceful coparenting and we remained friends, talking regularly and attending Casey’s events together.

I’ve never met a more natural athlete- he started running and earning trophies at age 6! So. Many. Trophies. He played volleyball in college, and more recently Gaelic football. I swear anything he attempted he mastered- he won the Gaelic National Championship twice- including during his first year on the team. He ran in the Tough Mudder and won a Bike Messenger race within months of riding a fixed gear. He was also recently inducted into the North Olmsted High School Hall of Fame for his athleticism.

Jeff graduated from Youngstown State University and was a dedicated employee at the Salvation Army for 27 years. He loved Harbor Light and making a difference for those in need.

I will cherish the memories of pastimes we loved- dancing, camping, hiking, and traveling. Jeff cooked a mean pork loin , loved making soup, and was a grill master. He loved his family and his friends and would do anything for them.

The hole left in his absence is too big to fill. We will all miss him. Rest in Peace❤️

I already miss seeing Jeff and Zeva sitting on the back deck or going on a walk. On really hot days, I would see Jeff giving Zeva a bath in the back yard to help cool her off. I was touched by his kindness. Jeff was a fixture on our street and we already miss him. Several neighbors have been lighting candles on Jeff’s porch as a way to honor and remember him. Wishing you peace Jeff, 🤍🕊️

I worked with Jeff at Northeast Ohio Salvation Army. He was my go-to IT guy while I worked there. I remember his servant heart. He never made me feel like I was incompetent and always found a solution. Our prayers are with his family and friends,

My condolences to the family. I was completely torn in my heart when I heard of his passing.
Jeff was a free spirit and loved adventure. I believe if he could have lived on one of his skateboards, he would have been one of the happiest souls in existence. He would always ask a simple question when I needed technical assistance with my computer- are you sure it’s plugged up. I would call him and say, “Jeffrey G, I need your help”. He will always be remembered for quirky sense of humor and his Harbor Light days. He would always light up when we talked about his beautiful daughter. We never know why things happen in unexpected turns. I believe God knows best. May Jeff be in our hearts forever 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I worked with Jeff at The Salvation Army for over 20 years. He had a certain joy about him that was most welcome and refreshing. I never once saw Jeff in a bad mood or upset with anyone.
He was always so kind and patient, and a big help to many of us who were “technologically challenged!”
Jeff could be a little quirky sometimes, but that just added to his charm. I’ll remember his laughter and smile. Jeff will always hold a special place among my memories and in my heart.
May God comfort his family and friends and grant each of you peace.

I met Jeff in 1995 at YSU. Although he only lived in Youngstown while earning his degree, he made a lasting impression and some lifelong friends. Always down for an adventure, never met a dance floor he didn’t want to tear it up on, and an incredible Dad to Casey - that’s how I’ll honor his memory. See you next lifetime friend.

I’ve known Jeff for years. He was someone I’d spend hours talking to at Funhouse. He could be grumpy sometimes, but had no hate in his heart. None that I was aware of.

But one thing that always stood out to me is how unassumingly brilliant he was. A friend of mine was having car trouble. Without hesitating, Jeff asked to see the car. We walked over to it, and he climbed under the vehicle. After fiddling around for a few minutes, the car was running again just fine.

Jeff was not someone you could just talk to for five minutes and figure out. He was a deep guy that didn’t care if you knew he had depth. That wasn’t important to him. What was important was that you knew how much he loved his daughter. And that you understood Gaelic football is not soccer.

With love and my deepest condolences,
~Dan Handelman

My Friend Jeff, you called from a garage, always so much static on the line, a heavy heart, a restless soul, a brother all the time. I listened through shadows, through anger and tears, and holding up a mirror, I cried, look how much you’re loved down here!

Life grew sharp and heavy when your father slipped away when darkness pulled you backward, and storms became your days, but in moments of a life so fiercely bright, for you were born of energy, of passion, and of light. Ever talisman, the kid who never grew, the world was just a canvas for the wild things you do. Spinning backs on cardboard, a blur of rhythm and grace, you’d "Kramer" through my doorway with a smile upon your face. A flash around the tracks and dancer in the grass, we ran down trails or hallways, only leaving lots of sass. A boy within the forest, a seeker in God’s green, the purest heart and golden presence the woods had ever seen. On skateboards, mountain bikes, or as a runner in the sun, you moved with perfect elegance until your race was done. Through parkour and tire tag, you balanced on the edge, and scaled the tallest buildings from sidewalks to the ledge. A man of no ceilings; he laughed at barriers and broke through bars to sleep upon the grandest clouds and dance amongst the stars. You jumped the moon, you touched the sky, a brilliant, burning spark, too beautiful, untamed for any encroaching realm of dark. And, though you’ve gone ahead of me, leaving gifts I could not send, I leave you to the quiet woods so find your peace, my friend. Stand still now, dear brother, let pain fade away, the forest knows just where you are; you are not lost today. The world will cry; the trees will sigh, and when I sob, where are YOU?

I hope to hear wind whisper back reminding you’re still here, somewhere over the rainbow and above an open sky. You are loved, Jeff / best friend, so please meet me at my end. I can’t wait to see you next in heaven with faith we’ll meet again…….

Jeff was a cherished teammate and proud member and player of the Cleveland St. Pat’s/ St. Jarlath’s GAA. He was a 2X US GAA National Champion (2013 & 2015) and wore the colors well. He will be missed - RIP brother - Cleveland GAA

Dear friends and family of Jeff, I am extremely sorry for your loss.
