"Grandfather, not Grandpa."

I'll always remember that extra level of decorum, the poise, the firm handshake and rough kiss on the cheek.  That tough exterior that gave way to the painter, the explorer, the sportsman underneath.  My life has contained two great rivalries of sport, chess with my dad and billiards with grandfather.  The losses as fun as the eventual victory as I worked to improve.

I'll always remember the generosity my grandfather lived out.  The number of times I was helped are uncountable.  I will be forever grateful for that example as I strive to be the same for my children.

Thank you, grandfather, for everything.  You will be missed on this Earth, but I'll see you on the New one.

We all aspire to do great things, have great accomplishments, show great character, and at times we can all fall short. But sometimes by Gods grace, we show them strong for all to see to his glory and praise! and so did my Dad.

A firm handshake, a loving grip on your shoulder, and an excited question, how are ya son? I looked forward to this greeting from my grandfather every time we visited. He was a steadfast man. A constant I sometimes lacked in my own life. He was a constant support, a strong reminder that I was okay, no matter what. I don’t think I’d like westerns as much as I do without grandfathers influence, his love of travel absolutely trickled it’s way through the Rossborough family, myself included. I have strong memories of being in the basement of the house, playing pool with my brothers. We’d all shudder when grandfather and my dad would come down to challenge us in a game. A sure defeat and display of skill I always marveled at. Once clearing the table with ease he’d walk and sit down in his old chair and open up a dime novel or an old sci-fi book and listen to us attempt to recreate his masterfully executed game. Among constant others I’ll always remember how his love and support has shaped me into the man I am today. I’ll miss you grandfather, our tambourine of joy, our pillar of support. You gave me your guitar when I wanted to learn, you lended an ear when I needed, you gave when I was in trouble, and you were always there. I love you.
