

MARGARET A. HALAS, born March 24, 1945, passed away March 17, 2022; one week shy of her 77th birthday! Preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Anne Halas (nee Gardin). Also, brothers Daniel L. and Wiliam G. Halas. Survived by her sister Diane Routt (William) of Melbourne, Australia, and brother James Halas (Sue) of Delaware, Ohio; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. and many friends.
A dedicated horsewoman since junior high school. She owned 14 different horses in her lifetime. She traveled to several states and countries with friends to take extended horseback riding adventures. In 1973 she was the first woman to attend the Midwest Horseshoeing School in Macomb, Illinois. This led to a successful career as a farrier, still shoeing and trimming horses until this past fall. She also has a special place in her heart for English Bull Terriers and was companion to many over the years ending with Hector and Daisy who have found new homes.
After high school, Margaret attended several colleges and universities and worked as a Laboratory Research Technician for many years. In 1991, she received her B.A. in Psychology from Cleveland State University. In 1993 she received her Master of Education in Counselling from the University of North Carolina. Her degrees led to a 12-year career as Administrator for Castle Nursing Homes in Millersburg, Ohio.
Her family and friends will remember her for her many hand-crafted scarves, shawls and other creations made from her own hand-spun and dyed wool. After her retirement, she pursued her interests and passion for horses, traveling and fiber arts. She belonged to many groups and acquired an innumerable amount of devoted friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday March 30, 2022 in the funeral home. Friends received WEDNESDAY 4-6 PM at the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
