Marie Helaine Stakes, 84, was called home peacefully to rest with the angels on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. She was born in Garfield Heights, Ohio, to the late Jack and Helen Revelt.
Marie was a talented artist and journalist who also had a deep love for animals. She and her late husband, Damon Stakes, shared a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling the world, experiencing many beautiful places and creating cherished memories.
Family was always Marie’s greatest priority. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who was always there for those she loved. She also found great joy in gardening, planting flowers and trees, and spending time surrounded by nature.
Marie had a heart of gold and touched the lives of many with her kindness, compassion, and generous spirit. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Marie is survived by her sister, Kathleen Montgomery (Dave); her daughters, Dawn Correa (Marcello) and Candice Gala (Wayne); her grandchildren, Hallie Schmolz, Brendan Schmolz (Julieanna); great-grandchildren, Olivia Schmolz, and Ora Schmolz.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 5PM to 6PM at Craciun Funeral Home 14925 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, 44130. A memorial service officiated by Deacon Bob Sabol will be performed at 6PM.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and loved ones.
