Michael "Mick" Anthony Benewiat

Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Michael was the son of the late Joseph and Louise Benewiat. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, treasured brother, uncle, and a friend to many.

Michael was the beloved husband of 52 years to Jeanette (nee Moilov). Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, travel, and countless memories. He was the loving father of Michael J. (Ariel), Mathew, Brian (Irvin), and Jason (Jassamine), and the cherished grandfather of Michael and Tristan.

He is also survived by his brother, Bernard “Bernie” Benewiat, and sister Kathy Ziemba; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Dave) Opincar, the late Nina Leotta (Joe, surviving), and John (Sherri) Moilov; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Damian (Kim) Dusek, Adam Dusek, Joseph Benewiat (deceased), Eric (Michelle) Benewiat, Kelly Walker, Nicole (Nick) Laccheo, Lauren (Ricky) Eberhardt, Greg Moilov, and Cassie Moilov.

Michael dedicated more than 40 years of his life to excellence and quality in the food and beverage industry. Starting during his college years with Ramsey Laboratories, which later became Flavors from Florida, where he served as Vice President of Sales before retiring. His dedication to his work was matched by his dedication to the people he loved.

Above all, Michael was a true family man. He took tremendous pride in his sons and was always there to support them, especially in their sports. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for and support his family, creating a home filled with love and security.

He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns, and he and Jeanette treasured their travels together, especially their favorite destinations of Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

Those who knew Michael will remember his warm personality and his gift for conversation. He loved talking, sharing stories, and getting to know people, and his presence could bring life and laughter to any gathering.

Michael leaves behind more than a lifetime of accomplishments—he leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will be treasured forever. His greatest legacy is the love he gave so freely to Jeanette, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Craciun Funeral Home, 14925 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment services are pending.
