Michael C. Casapis, a beloved and devoted son, father and grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at the age of 84—just five days before his 85th birthday.
A proud father to Dean Casapis, Christina McClellan, and Maria Marzavas, Michael was also a cherished grandfather of five, a loving brother to four siblings, and a dear uncle to nine nieces and nephews. Above all, he was a loyal family man whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael was born on August 13, 1941, in Cyprus to Costas and Maritsa Kasapis. His life was defined by loyalty, courage, perseverance, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
As a young boy, Michael worked alongside his father to build a business and factory that helped provide food and shelter for their family during a time of great poverty in Cyprus. The sacrifices he made and the selfless love he showed helped lay a foundation upon which the Kasapis family would continue to thrive for generations.
At just 18 years old, Michael courageously left his family and beloved homeland to pursue the American dream. Although he arrived in the United States alone, his family was never far from his heart. He faithfully sent much of his hard-earned money home to help support them, demonstrating a generosity, loyalty and sense of responsibility that remained central to who he was throughout his life.
Through education, determination, and hard work, Michael built a successful life in America while always carrying his Cypriot heritage proudly in his heart. A dedicated and accomplished mechanical engineer, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1965. He went on to build a distinguished career in the power plant industry, with his work taking him to many countries around the world.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael will be remembered for his kind and genuine spirit, remarkable strength, and enduring resilience. He treasured the fellowship of the cancer-survivor community he met with each month and found great happiness in the peaceful simplicity of farm life.
Michael’s greatest legacy is the loyalty and love he gave to his family, the sacrifices he made on their behalf, and the lasting impression he left on everyone whose life he touched. His family will carry his memory in their hearts and forever treasure the years, experiences, and precious moments they shared with him.
Michael will be deeply missed and forever loved. May his memory be eternal.
Private services will be held by the family.
